Students in 3rd-5th grade are encouraged to read William Allen White nominated books.  The WAW Award is a Kansas book award that is awarded annually.  If they read 2 books on either list, they can vote on who they'd like to win.  Here at MLR, if they read 2 new ones and 4 more books (either new or older ones), they become a part of the WAW Book Club and will be recognized at a celebration in the library and at the Awards Assembly.  Medals are awarded to students who read 12 or more.  Top Readers (those who read the most WAW books in a school year) are invited to go to the WAW Celebration held each year in Emporia, Kansas!  This year's trip is highlighted below!
