    Coming this September, a Writing Center Staff will be trained to work with students as needed in the writing center. These staff members will divide responsibilities and be scheduled for both appointments and walk-ins during ELO.
     
    Benefits: 
    1. Gain experience working with students in an advisory role
    2. Receive a certificate documenting their service and a letter of recommendation as they prepare for college and career
    3. Potentially earn credit. There is a possibility for 2nd semester of 18-19 or for the 19-20 school year that students can also earn .5 elective credit for staffing the writing center during an instructional block as their schedule allows

    Commitment: 

    1. Placement in the writing center ELO
    2. Daily training activity during ELO prior to Labor Day and a weekly staff development activity the rest of the school year
    3. Staffing the writng center during ELO

    Application Procedure:

    1. Read Qualifications and Requirements to ensure that you are eligible
    2. Complete the application either hard copy or online 
    3. Submit completed application by APRIL 20TH

    Qualifications and Requirements:

    Writing tutors for the 2018-2019 school year will be in the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, be in good standing on the SHS Matrix, and have a minimum GPA of 2.6. Applicants must: 

    1. Have an interest in writing and previous success with organizing and developing writing that demonstrates a command of grammar and usage
    2. Enjoy working with all kinds of people; have a good sense of humor, be friendly, flexible, and professional
    3. Be willing to accept direction and complete weekly staff development activities
    4. Commit to regular weekly tutoring hours in the writing center during ELO as well as keep accurate records of all tutoring sessions
