Recent Salina, Kansas Technology Advancements
Please note: This is an example of the recent technology advancements in the Salina Public Schools funded by a quarter of one-cent sales tax. The tax was passed by Salina, Kansas, voters in 1998, and runs for 5.5 years.

The sales tax has brought an estimated $12.5 million of technology into the schools. This has been coupled with an additional $12.5 million from the district's capital outlay fund to dramatically increase student access to technology over the past three years.

An integrated voice, data and video system connects every classroom in Salina USD 305 to an unlimited number of outside resources to support classroom learning. Distance learning classrooms are in place in both high schools, and the district uses a combination of classroom computers and computer labs to provide access to technology.

The district has a state of the art “voice video and data system.”  Pictured here is the Safari Video distribution system located at the Network Control Center.
Every classroom and teaching station has a technology cabinet that holds network equipment and a 32” video monitor.  Teachers access tape and digital content from the Network Control Center.
The Industrial Technology and Family & Consumer Science programs utilize Paxton Patterson learning modules to enhance instruction.
