  • Info on Tornado Warnings

    • During School Day Tornado Warnings – Elementary and middle school buildings have new storm shelters, thanks to the 2014 Bond. If a tornado warning begins during the school day, students and staff will take refuge in the storm shelters. It is important to note that once students and staff relocate to the storm shelters, exterior doors of the school building may be locked and entry into the building is not guaranteed. Parents are strongly encouraged to seek shelter and wait until after the warning has been lifted before coming to the school.
    • Bus Transportation and Tornado Warnings – If a tornado warning occurs when buses are transporting students the buses will immediately go to the nearest school building. Students will stay in shelter until the warning stops. At that time the buses will complete transporting students home. Detailed information is available at the district website: www.usd305.com

    New Overdue Library Book Policy!

A new district policy has been put into effect starting March 27th.  District-wide, students who don’t return library books that are overdue (checked out over 2 weeks) will be given a first-notice that should come home in their backpack reminding them/you of what books they have.  If a student forgets to return their overdue books for another week, a second-notice will be mailed/emailed to a parent/guardian with the price of the book(s) on it and fees for the books will be added into Skyward at the end of semester.  Students will continue to checkout library books.  If the books are found, the fees will not be added and no money will be due.  If the books are not returned, those Skyward fees will need to paid.

If a student moves to another school in Salina and doesn’t return their books before leaving, fees will be added to Skyward for the library books from their previous school.  We will contact you if a book is damaged and needs to be replaced.

Any library books from this school year (prior to January 1) that are overdue will be added to your Skyward account as soon as we can get letters out to you!  If you have questions regarding this district policy, please contact your school librarian or building principal!  Thank you!
