New Safety Guidelines for Dropping Off/Picking-Up Students
The City of Salina
has started the
procedures to make the drop off and pick up safer for our Coronado students and ease traffic congestion
on Ray Avenue
near our school. The following were
determined to be appropriate actions following discussions within the various
city departments and a field visit by city representatives to the location.
-
“No Parking” signs have been erected along the west side of Ray Avenue for periods of the days
when school is in session. This no
parking area will extend two blocks south from Neal Ave.
-
“Student Loading Zone Only” signs will be erected along the east side of Ray
next week and
are currently
on Neal in the area of the school.
This will mean that parents may not park and leave their cars while in
this area but may stop along the east side drop off and pick up their
children.
-
The police department will monitor the traffic in the area and take
appropriate action to reduce traffic violations and improve the safe flow of
traffic and pedestrians.
-
The police department intends to use warnings for motorists for a period of
time to help everyone understand the new changes for traffic flow and
regulations in this area.
-
If you are walking your child to school from your car, you will need to park
on a side street.
These steps are in response to our need for help for the safety of our students.
The circle drive will continue to be closed during drop off and pick up
times so that students may safely enter the building.
We appreciate the city’s support and assistance, and with your
cooperation, our students can arrive and depart from school in a safe manner.
