• Parents As Teachers (PAT)
     
     

     

    • Parents As Teachers is an educational support program serving pregnant women and families with children birth to three in the USD #305 school district.

    • PAT certified Early Childhood Specialists visit families once a month to teach them about brain development, what to expect at different stages of development, and how to enhance their child's learning.

    • PAT's philosophy is based on understanding that children are born to learn and that parents are the first and most important teachers.

    • Enrollment priority will be given to families that meet at least one of the following criteria:

      -Child with disability (IFSP or IEP)                  -Teen Parent
      -Child with chronic health condition                 -Parent with Disability
      -Low Income                                                      -Parent with chronic health condition
      -Parent without high school diploma/GED        -Parent with mental illness, depression, anxiety
      -History of substance abuse                                -Recent immigrant or refugee
      -Homeless/Inadequate housing                           -Foster children
      -Very low birth weight                                        -Incarcerated parent
      -Domestic violence                                             -Recent death of spouse or child
      -Referral from DCF for suspected child abuse or neglect
      -Military Family                                                -English learner
      -Families of multiples (twins, triplets, etc.)
