  • Lakewood Parent Night
Parents with students who will attend Lakewood in the fall will have an opportunity to go over to the school to meet the teachers and tour the building on Monday evening, May 5th from 6:00 to 7:00.  This is a good opportunity for you to learn about Lakewood, its teachers, and what your student can expect next year.

In The News

  • Testing Season Has Begun

This is the time of the year in school districts all over Kansas that testing is conducted. The data we receive from these tests help us to determine placement for students, identify areas that students are in need of extra assistance, and it provides a starting point for teachers to improve their instruction. If you are wondering how you can help your student perform their best on the test there are several things you can consider. Rest is a very overlooked, but necessary item when considering the success of a student on a test. Providing a good meal is also a big factor. And sometimes just providing them a little confidence boost will make a big difference.

  • Military Partnership

As you may know, Oakdale has signed on with the Kansas National Guard to create a partnership where the military will come to our school and help us with various activities or programs our school is running. From time to time you may hear how your student was able to eat with someone from our military as sometimes they will come over for lunch, or how they were able to read with them during small group time. This is a very unique opportunity for our staff and students and we are excited for what the future will bring to us thanks to this partnership.
