    Advanced Placement US Government and Politics presents students with an analytical perspective on government and politics in the United States.  This course involves both the study of general concepts used to interpret US politics and the analysis of specific case studies and readings.  It also requires familiarity with the various institutions, groups, beliefs, and ideas that constitute US political reality.  AP United States Government and Politics will cover the basic topics that are generally addressed in college courses:
    1. Constitutional Underpinning of the United States Government
    2. Political Beliefs and Behaviors
    3. Political Parties, Interest Groups, and Mass Media
    4. Institutions of National Government: the Congress, The Presidency, the Bureaucracy, and Federal Courts
    5. Public Policy
    6. Civil Rights and Civil Liberties
