Are
tests required? The Federal "No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act"
requires states to develop annual assessments in reading and math
for grades 3 through 8 beginning in the 2005-2006 school year.
Students will take State tests in reading and math every year
beginning in 3rd grade through 8th grade |

Who
gives the tests? Test are administered by the
individual schools/individual subject area teachers. Each
building has a format and calendar schedule for the testing process. |

State
Assessment tests are scored as follows: "Unsatisfactory"
: "Approaches Standard" : "Meets
Standard" : "Exceeds Standard" : "Exemplary".
It is the goal of all schools for all students to score "Meets
Standard" or above in all areas. |

Are the tests computerized? The State of Kansas
now requires all State Assessment tests be given on a computer.
Only in special or unique situations will State Assessment tests be
given in paper/pencil format. See

does AYP mean? AYP stands for adequate yearly
progress--a measure of students scores that must meet the standards
set by the NCLB - No Child Left Behind education law. |
