Teacher Appreciation Award

The Teacher Appreciation Award honors Salina Public Schools teachers who do many things – often unnoticed – that positively affect our students and school community. This award recognizes teachers for the creative ways they support, motivate and encourage a lifetime of learning, in and out of the classroom.

Erica is a Grade 1 teacher at Meadowlark Elementary School. Erica goes above and beyond, supporting new teachers and using innovative practices to keep her students engaged and learning. Meadowlark is lucky to have her dedication and talent!

Brooklyn is a Grade 5 teacher at Heusner Elementary School. She has transformed her classroom into a warm, supportive community for her students. Brooklyn implements Visible Learning intentions and success criteria, as well as a variety of Kagan structures throughout her lessons to ensure her students feel empowered. She makes sure that every lesson is an engaging and interactive experience.

Beyond the classroom, Elisha puts in volunteer hours for PTA, ensuring her students receive enrichment activities. She promotes community involvement by hosting speakers in her class and inviting them to participate in school events. We appreciate Elisha’s hard work and commitment to her students’ growth and well-being. Amber is an Elementary Special Education Teacher at Opportunity Now. She steadfastly provides academic and social-emotional learning for her special needs students. Her dedication and vigilance help maintain learning spaces that allow everyone to grow perform at their best. Her quick thinking proved invaluable when she identified a student who was choking and performed the Heimlich Maneuver, preventing a crisis and ensuring the student’s safety. Amber's dedication goes above and beyond every day!
