SPS Career Pathways

KSDE CTE Sunflower graphic showing industries

A Kansas Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway is a specific sequence of courses that students can take, usually starting in high school, to explore and prepare for a particular career field.

Think of it as a focused program of study, like a major for high school, that blends traditional academic subjects with hands-on, technical skills needed for a specific job sector. The primary goal is to make students college- and career-ready. This means they graduate high school with not just a diploma, but also with practical experience, technical skills, and a clearer plan for their future, whether that involves going directly into the workforce, attending a technical college, or pursuing a four-year degree.
