Purpose Statement

Salina Public Schools (SPS) recognizes Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) as a powerful tool that can enrich teaching and learning. Our goal is to use GenAI in ways that support the district’s strategic plan by helping students build critical thinking, communication, and social-emotional skills. We are committed to using GenAI responsibly, with a focus on safety, ethics, and supporting student growth. 

To help reach this goal, SPS has developed these guidelines for the responsible use of GenAI in classrooms. SPS staff are encouraged to use GenAI as a supplemental resource that supports collaboration and learning. Educators should explore how GenAI can be used effectively, involve students in discussions about its use, and help them apply the technology in meaningful ways.
