The board of education recognized JaNae Basinger, Heusner Elementary fifth grade teacher, as the Elementary Teacher of the Year, and Megan Pommer, South Middle 6th grade English and reading teacher, as the Secondary Teacher of the Year.

 

Vickie Marcozzi, Oakdale Elementary School art teacher, was recognized by the board of education as the district’s winner of the 2020 Master Teacher Award.

The board of education approved the health and dental insurance premium holiday for the October, 2020 coverage.

 

Baseball/Softball Agreement

The board of education approved the agreement between USD 305, the City of Salina, Kansas Wesleyan University and Salina Baseball Enterprises relating to Dean Evans Stadium.

 

Multi-County Hazard Mitigation Plan

The board of education approved the Kansas Homeland Security Region F Hazard Mitigation Plan.

 

Salina Adult Education Center Mission Statement and Brand Promise

The board of education approved the mission statement and brand promise.

 

Salina Adult Education Center Fee Increase

The board of education approved the fee increase proposal to make all adult education programs one universal fee of $55.

 

Salina Adult Education Center Handbook

The board of education approved the changes for the 2020-2021 Salina Adult Education Center Attendance Policy Handbook.

 

Curriculum and Instruction Update

Shanna Rector, executive director of educational programs, gave an update on the progress and actions taken since July 24 to prepare for instruction when school begins.

Superintendent’s Report

Linn Exline, superintendent of school, has been preparing for the return of teachers and students. She spoke at the new teacher orientation and has been interviewed on local radio stations to promote accurate information about school reopening. Superintendent Exline has continued to connect with teachers in Zoom meetings to answer their questions and provide updates to help them communicate effectively.
