Approve Bid

The board of education approved the bid of $40,824 from Veritiv Operating Company for 16,800 reams of white paper.


Approve Bid

The board of education approved the purchase of a Cisco Unified Communications phone system and installation from ConvergeOne in the amount of $1,160,813.23.


Encumbrance Listing

The board of education approved the encumbrance to Johnson Controls, $22,542.13 for electric entry control and CCTV services at the district office.


Schilling Elementary Gift Acceptance

The board of education approved the gift acceptance to Schilling Elementary School in the amount of $7,500 from the Kansas Masonic Literacy Center to support their after-school academic support program.


FY19 Audit

The board of education received the audit for fiscal year 2019.


2019 KASB Delegate and Alternate

The board of education appointed Ann Zimmerman, president, as its representative to the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) Delegate Assembly. Gabe Grant, vice president, was appointed as alternate.


Salina West Campus

The board of education approved the movement of the Opportunity Now program to the Salina West Campus beginning with the 2020-2021 school year.


KESA Presentation

Angela Dorzweiler, Oakdale Elementary principal and Curt Exline, Oakdale Elementary lead teacher, presented an accreditation update for Oakdale Elementary School.


District Office Update

Kris Upson, executive director of operations, gave a renovation update on the district office that includes electrical and technology upgrades along with asbestos remediation.


Postsecondary Success Data

Tiffany Snyder, director of assessment, gave an update on the postsecondary success data progress.

  • Jim Fletcher, board member, attended the Heartland Policy Council and the Schilling environmental meeting.
  • Emma Doherty, board member, attended the Schilling environmental meeting and the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) regional meeting.
  • Ann Zimmerman, president, attended the Chamber of Commerce Board meeting, the Schilling environmental meeting, the KASB regional meeting and the presentation by Equity Council members Shanna Rector and Joe Jackson.

Superintendent's Report

Linn Exline, superintendent of schools, reported that a Building Bridges event is being planned and will bring together business, industry and community together around Career Pathways. Superintendent Exline reported that the district office has temporarily relocated to Salina West at 501 W. Cloud and that asbestos abatement will take place at the Gypsum Avenue building October 14 – 25. She thanked Maintenance and Operations as well as MIS for their work moving the district office departments to Salina West. Superintendent Exline attended staff development sessions in multiple buildings.
