2021-2022 Exceeding the Revenue Neutral Tax Rate

The board of education opened the hearing for the purpose of hearing and answering objections of taxpayers relating to exceeding the Revenue Neutral Tax Rate for the 2021-2022 school year. The board of education approved the resolution relating to exceeding the Revenue Neutral Tax Rate for the 2021-2022 school year.

 

2021-2022 Budget Hearing

The board of education opened the budget hearing for the purpose of hearing and answering objections of taxpayers relating to the proposed use of funds and the amount of tax to be levied.

The board of education approved the settlement agreement with Symmetry Energy Solutions, LLC for the February gas bill refund in the amount of $87,336.43 and authorized the board president to sign any documents regarding that settlement.

 

KASB Energy Management Program

The board of education approved the KBS member participation and agency agreement.

 

Appoint 2021 KASB Delegate and Alternate

The board of education appointed a delegate, Dana Kossow, and alternate, Mark Bandré, for the 2021 KASB Delegate Assembly.

 

USD 305 COVID Test

The board of education approved filing the grant application for the USD 305 COVID test to Stay/Learn/Play/Participate: Modified Quarantine testing in schools.

 

School Board Reports

  • Mark Bandré, board member, attended the all-staff meeting in August, two Salina Education Foundation meetings and two Smoky Hill Education Service Center executive cabinet meetings. He spoke with many community members.
  • Gabe Grant, board member, attended the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board meeting and the Central Kansas Cooperative in Education Board of Control meeting.
  • Dana Kossow, board member, reported that the School Marathon is underway at every USD 305 elementary school.
  • Ann Zimmerman, vice president, attended the Equity Council meeting, listened to Superintendent Exline on the radio, has been reading and responding to emails from community members and is preparing to visit classrooms with the Salina Arts Infusion program.
  • Scott Gardner, board member, attended the Head Start Policy Council meeting.
  • Emma Doherty, board member, listened to Superintendent Exline on the radio and engaged with community members via emails, texts and phone calls.

Superintendent’s Report

Linn Exline, superintendent of schools, presented to the Salina Chamber of Commerce and Altrusa International. She gave multiple radio interviews. Accompanied by Dr. Curtis Stevens, director of secondary education, she met with the Salina Chamber of Commerce about internship placements and forging additional partnerships. Superintendent Exline presented the Horizon Award notifications to Cole Dow, welding instructor at Central High School, and Lindsey Chavez, fourth grade teacher at Sunset Elementary School.

 

 

Executive Session

The board of education recessed into executive session to discuss personnel, attorney/client and personnel.
