Ava Lemaster

South High School’s Student of the Week is Ava Lemaster, a senior, and daughter of Kristopher and Gena Lemaster. At South High, she is a member of Cougar Cross Country and Track & Field, National Honor Society, and Student Advisory Committee. She enjoys getting to know all of the faculty and staff at SHS while outside of school, her friends and family are most important to her. After graduation, she plans to attend a college with a physical therapy assistant program and would be interested in continuing to run track & field as well. Congratulations, Ava!

LaJoy Outland

Central High School’s Student of the Week is LaJoy Outland, senior. LaJoy cheers her friends on at CHS sporting events and is a true supporter at school activities. She is happy to be in her final year of high school, though she has enjoyed her time at CHS – especially math! Her future plans begin with joining the Army and working in the medical field with a long-term plan to become a veterinarian. LaJoy especially thanks her Aunt for all her support and encouragement. She also thanks everyone at CHS for all they have done throughout her high school journey. Congratulations LaJoy!

Mekayla Ashiedu

Lakewood Middle School’s Student of the Week is Mekayla Ashiedu, Grade 7. Makeyla plays violin in the Orchestra, play the piano at Joyful Sounds Studio and participates in the Xcel Program at The City. Her favorite activity is Orchestra because it is fun and provides a different experience than in her other classes. After high school, Mekayla would like to study business and architecture and hopes to eventually start her own business. Congratulations Mekayla!

Jaevon Floyd

South Middle School’s Student of the Week is Jaevon Floyd, Grade 6. Jaevon plays football for the SMS Cougars 6th Grade Team. His favorite class is social studies because he enjoys learning about different civilizations and parts of the world. Looking ahead, Jaevon would like to attend Kansas State University and earn a degree in business. He enjoys playing video games and spending time with his friends. Congratulations Jaevon! 

 

Students of the Week #4

Isabel Fulkerson

Isabel is a senior at South High School. She is involved in several activities including swimming, golf, band, New Dawn Choir, National Honor Society and Drama Club. She is also a Kansas Thespian member. Outside of school, Isabel swims with the Salina Aquatics Club, lifeguards and volunteers at the Salina Public Library. Her favorite class right now is social studies because of the interesting topics and discussions. After graduation, Isabel plans to attend either KU or KSU for a dual major in Economics and International Affairs, in order to someday work as a foreign service officer or for the U.S. Department of State. 

Lyla Kimmi

Lyla is an 8th grader at South Middle School. Lyla is a member of the basketball team and the school orchestra. She says the orchestra is her favorite part of school because she loves to play the violin and everyone is friendly. After high school, Lyla would like to attend KWU and become a physical therapist. 

Eliana Williams

Eliana is a freshman at Central High School. She is a member of the CHS Vets Squad and is a part of the Xcel program. Her favorite class is Advanced English with Mr. Cullins and she’s looking forward to an upcoming field trip. Eliana also enjoys throwing shot put in track. After high school, Eliana would like to be a part of the KU dance team. 

Carlie McMichael

Carlie is an 8th grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the volleyball team and the school orchestra. She also participates in the Shockwave Softball program. Carlie’s favorite class is technical education because she likes building things. After high school, Carlie would like to become a doctor and go to medical school. 

 

Students of the Week #3

Hanna Householter

Hanna is a senior at South High School. She is involved in many school sports and activities including volleyball, soccer, Student Council and Kilt Krew. Her favorite class is conditioning with Mr. Barkley. Outside of school, she enjoys going to the gym and hanging out with friends. After graduation, she plans to attend KSU. 

Elijah Buckland

Elijah is a 6th grader at South Middle School. He enjoys playing soccer and working on his leadership skills in P.E. Elijah enjoys the community at SMS because the staff and students are funny and helpful. A fun fact about Elijah is that he has four pets. After high school, Elijah would like to attend college and become a programmer. 

Madison Berndt

Madison is a sophomore at Central High School. She is a member of the Free Spirit Choir and Mustang Media and is one of the softball managers. Madison is also a member of the school's theater troupe and is active with Theatre Salina as well. One of her favorite things about school is getting to see all of her friends and teachers. After high school, Madison would like to pursue a career in producing movies, television shows or theater. 

Terric Hardesty

Terric is a 6th grader at Lakewood Middle School. He is a member of the Comic Book Club and enjoys playing all of the fun games in P.E. A fun fact about Terris is that he has two sisters and that he volunteers in the community by picking up trash in parks. After high school, Terrific would like to become a firefighter or a YouTuber.

 
 

Students of the Week #2

Carson Crow

Carson is a senior at South High School. Carson is captain of the soccer team, a member of the swimming and diving team, a tennis player and a member of National Honor Society. He enjoys his classes and being able to hang out with friends. Outside of school, Carson volunteers at local soccer events, plays the guitar and goes on morning runs. After graduation, he plans to study aerospace engineering and hopes to continue his soccer career.  

Alivia Durall

Alivia is a 7th grader at South Middle School. She is a member of the yearbook club and plays on her school’s intramural teams. She is also a member of the Salina Youth Choir. Alivia loves art and all types of music. She enjoys singing, reading and drawing in her free time. After high school, Alivia would like to attend college but isn’t sure of what she will study just yet. 

Isaac Hamilton

Isaac is an 11th grader at Central High School. Isaac is a member of both the gaming club and the chess club. He enjoys learning new things, problem solving and having classes with his friends. His favorite subject is math with Mr. Hall. A fun fact about Isaac is that he enjoys hiking, running and biking. After high school, Isaac would like to become an astronaut but will start with a career in electrical engineering. 

Jaida Moran

Jaida is a 7th grader at Lakewood Middle School. Jaida loves being on the volleyball team at LMS and enjoys her teammates and coaches. She also does track and field. In her free time, she bakes and helps out at her church. After high school, Jaida would like to open a bakery.

Carson Power

Carson is a senior at South High School. Carson is the captain of the football team. He enjoys having teachers that seriously care about their students, and he has found that they all only want the best from him. Outside of school, Carson is active with his church group, enjoys lifting weights and has a dog named Skye. After graduation, he plans to attend Kansas State University to study Engineering.  

Natalie Simpson

Natalie is an 8th grader at South Middle School. Her favorite activity at school is orchestra, where she plays the violin and enjoys learning new music. Natalie enjoys crocheting in her spare time. After high school, Natalie plans to earn a business degree and own a bookstore. 

Carlos Aguilar

Carlos is a senior at Central High School. Carlos is a band section leader, wrestler and soccer player. He enjoys his teachers at Central as well as the wrestling team. A fun fact about Carlos is that he plays the piano. After graduation, Carlos plans to study to become a doctor. 

Madisyn Sandbo

Madisyn is an 8th grader at Lakewood Middle School. She enjoys playing sports which include volleyball, basketball and track and field. In her spare time, she plays Elite Club Volleyball, attends church, spends time with family and shops with her friends. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Haynes and her favorite class is English. After high school, Madisyn would like to attend KU Med to become a doctor or surgeon.
