Students of the Week #26

Josten Fischer

Josten is a senior at South High School. Josten is a captain of the girls soccer team, member of the cross country team, head writing center intern, senior class student council treasurer and National Honor Society member. Her favorite classes are American Justice with Mr. Carlson and Physics with Mrs. Cairns because of how passionate they both are about what they teach. Outside of school Josten volunteers at Prairieland Market. After Graduation she will attend Kansas State University and study Architectural Engineering. 

Delaney Harris

Delaney is an eighth grader at South Middle School. Delaney is a member of the volleyball and basketball teams. Her favorite class is math because of her teacher, Mr. McCorkles' kindness and sense of humor. Outside of school Delaney spends her free time staying active and playing sports. After high school Delaney plans to attend college and pursue a pathway in nursing. 

Kyler Brecheisen

Kyler is a senior at Central High School. Kyler has been a member of the baseball team for all four years, and is a member of the Maroons. His favorite class is shop class, as he loves the hands-on learning environment. Outside of school Kyler is a youth baseball coach at The Yard. After graduation Kyler plans on attending Pratt Community college to get his associates degree in Applied Science and Welding Technology, as well as playing baseball. 

Braxton Hall

Braxton is a sixth grader at Lakewood Middle School. He is a percussionist in the school band. Braxton enjoys seeing his friends at school and loves how nice and willing his teachers are to help him whenever he needs. Outside of school Braxton volunteers through his church, and helps with the kindergarten Sunday school class. In his free time Braxton goes hunting, plays football, helps out on his family farm and spends quality time with his older siblings and German Shepard, Bo. After high school Braxton wants to attend college and continue playing football.

 

Students of the Week #25

Emily Newman

Emily is a Senior at South High School. Emily is a member of the band and softball team and also participates in STUCO and Relay for Life. Her favorite parts about school are all of the opportunities there are to get involved, as well as all of her teachers. Emily believes her teachers have everyone's best interest at heart and have helped her succeed in many aspects of her life. Outside of school Emily helps coach gymnastics and softball, she enjoys spending her free time watching Disney movies, training for triathlons and hanging out with her friends. After graduation Emily plans to attend St. Louis Community College where she will study and play softball. 

Amelia Hornseth

Amelia is a sixth grader at South Middle School. Amelia is a member of the cheer, volleyball, and softball teams. Outside of school she participates in a church youth group. Amelia loves being able to make new friends, and try out new things at school. Her favorite class is her English class because of Mrs. Alley. After high school Amelia plans on attending college to pursue a career path that is both enjoyable and stable. 

Reyce Kelley

Reyce is a Freshman at Central High School. Reyce is a member of the football and track teams, and participates in civil air patrol. His favorite classes include cabinet making and personal fitness, as he enjoys staying active and focusing on his health. After high school Reyce plans to attend college and continue his football career or pursue a pathway in welding. 

Eunice Martinez

Eunice is an eighth grader at Lakewood Middle School. Eunice participates in Civics Club, is a member of the band and on the wrestling team. Eunice looks forward to her sixth period class because she enjoys learning about history and being able to see her wrestling coach, Mr. Cuadra. In her free time Eunice likes to draw and teach her dog, Meelo, new tricks. After high school she plans to attend college and pursue a pathway related to drawing or building. 

 

Students of the Week #24

Emily Jaramillo

Emily is a Senior at South High School. Emily is a member of the tennis, golf, and track team, as well as being a basketball manager. She enjoys coming to school because of the environment that her peers create, getting to be in interesting classes, and having her day brightened by talking to her teachers.  One of her favorite classes is art because it allows her to express herself.  Outside of school, she enjoys volunteering with Relay for Life, painting, playing instruments such as the guitar and piano, and crocheting. After graduation, she plans to attend Hutchinson Community College and becoming a Radiologic Technologist.  

Jayden Jones

Jayden is a 7th grader at South Middle School. Jayden enjoys his Art class, as well as staying active in P.E. and playing club soccer outside of school. In his free time he loves spending quality time with his friends, playing video games, and spending time with his dog. After high school Jayden plans on attending college to pursue either engineering or law. 

Shamik Powell

Shamik is a Sophomore at Central High School. Shamik is a member of Student Council, and the track team. His favorite subject in school is his graphic design class - he wants to give a shout out to Mr. Stineman and Mrs. Lowe for being such great teachers. Outside of school Shamik loves to spend time with his seven siblings, sing, dance, and cook. After high school Shamik plans on attending college and pursuing a degree in biology or science at KU or HBCU. 

Tucker Rice

Tucker is a seventh grader at Lakewood Middle School. Tucker’s favorite subject is Tech Ed as he enjoys building new items with his fellow classmates. Tucker’s favorite hobbies are going thrift shopping and visiting art museums. He participates in football, wrestling, basketball, and track. After high school Tucker plans on attending Kansas State University where he will continue his football career and pursue business.

Tristan Bernhardt

Tristan is a senior at South High School. Tristan is on the football and baseball team and is a member of National Honor Society.  In his free time he enjoys playing sports with his friends, spending time with his family, and volunteering with Relay for Life. After graduation, Tristan plans to attend Kansas State University and study Architecture. 

Jennifer Morrell

Jennifer is an 8th grader at South Middle School. Jennifer is a member of the school orchestra and enjoys her music classes. She is also involved with the Salina Symphony Youth Choir and Orchestra programs. A fun fact about Jennifer is that she makes jewelry in her spare time. After high school, Jennifer would like to attend college and pursue a degree in music education.

Jasmine Kassem

Jasmine is a junior at Central High School. Jasmine is a member of the school band and enjoys playing the piano in the school jazz band. Jasmine is also involved in student council as the secretary and spends her free time volunteering at multiple local organizations. After high school Jasmine would like to attend Tulane University and pursue a degree in either dentistry or dermatology. 

Lucas Cosens

Lucas is a 6th grader at Lakewood Middle School. Lucas is interested in robotics and enjoys participating in the First Lego League Challenge and the StarBase Robotics program. Lucas is also in the gardening club. His favorite classes are gym, math and band. In his free time, he enjoys attending church and collecting interesting rocks. After high school, Lucas would like to become a geologist or engineer and continue to play the alto saxophone.

 

Students of the Week #22

Natalia Silvestre

Natalia is a junior at South High School. She is an ESL and Math Center tutor, the ICC Club president, Orchestra president, and is on the soccer team. Her favorite class has been American Studies, but she also enjoys Orchestra and AP World History. Outside of school, she is involved with the KWU orchestra, volunteering at her church, and plays several instruments. After high school, she would like to attend KU to study history or anthropology. 

Veronica Alvarado

Veronica is a 6th grader at South Middle School. She enjoys playing various sports including volleyball, basketball, track and more. She also enjoys the 6th grade weightlifting conditioning program offered to students at South high. She also enjoys her classes. After high school, Veronica would like to attend K-State and play volleyball. 

Azariah Ulrich

Azariah is a junior at Central High School. She loves her psychology class and being able to see friends at school. She enjoys attending games to cheer on her classmates. A fun fact about Azariah is that she has a cat. After high school, Azariah would like to become a social worker. 

Jasper Mahler

Jasper is a 7th grader at Lakewood Middle School. Jasper enjoys participating in math relays, tennis, and scholar’s bowl. He says that Lakewood teachers are nice, kind and very helpful. Outside of school, Jasper volunteers his time at several local organizations. After high school, Jasper would like to attend Brown College and earn a degree in architecture. 

 

Students of the Week #21

Allyson Exline

Allyson is a senior at South High School. She is the senior class STUCO president, and a member of the writing center, LEGO club, Relay for Life and NHS. She also swims and plays tennis for SHS. She says that Mr. Harris’ class always brightens her day and she enjoys Advanced PE. After graduation, she plans to attend K-State to study Education

Naomi Cardenas

Naomi is an 8th grader at South Middle School. Naomi plays in the school’s orchestra, a place where she can enjoy playing music. Naomi also enjoys her history class because she likes the hands-on projects or activities. Outside of school, Naomi sometimes volunteers with her mom’s job. Naomi enjoys drawing and spending time outside. After high school, Naomi would like to pursue a career either as a welder or as an artist. 

Brock Dolton

Brock is a senior at Central High School. Brock is the captain of the swim team, a section leader in the Jazz Band, a drum major for the marching band, and also plays tennis. Brock loves the community and the experiences he’s had in the Central High band program. Outside of school, Brock is a member of the Salina Youth Symphony. After graduation, Brock plans to attend K-State and major in Mechanical Engineering.

Ryleeann Ross

Ryleeann is an 8th grader at Lakewood Middle School. Ryleeann is a member of the Yearbook Club and does cheer. Her favorite classes are math and science. Her favorite LMS staff members are Ms. Kim, Ms. Leach, and Mrs. Bicknell. Outside of school, Ryleeann is active with her church’s youth group and does volunteer work. After high school, Ryleeann would like to attend college to be either a cosmetologist or to work with animals. 

 

Students of the Week #20

Angelica Alvarado 

Angelica is a senior at South High School. She is a member of the New Dawn choir, HOSA, STUCO senior officer and is the secretary for NHS. Her favorite class at SHS is physics and her favorite teacher is Mr. Harris. Outside of school, she is a volunteer coach at the YMCA and Fieldhouse, and is active with her church. After graduation, she plans to attend K-State University to study Biology, in preparation for a Physician Assistant program. 

Anisti Sauer1

Anisti is a 6th grader at South Middle School. Anisti plays the violin in the school orchestra. Her favorite classes are orchestra, math and social studies. She looks forward to each day at school with her favorite teachers and her best friends. Outside of school, Anisti plays volleyball and volunteers with a local wrestling club. After high school, Anisti would like to attend college where she can continue playing the violin and playing sports.

Caleb Aguilar 

Caleb is a freshman at Central High School. Caleb plays soccer and his dream is to become a professional soccer player. He enjoys getting good grades and trying to be the best version of himself that he can be. After high school, Caleb hopes to continue playing soccer but he might attend a trade school as well.

Liam Adams 

Liam is an 8th grader at Lakewood Middle School. Liam enjoys his classes at Lakewood as his teachers teach at a pace that makes everything easy to learn. Liam volunteers at the library and enjoys drawing in free time. After high school, Liam plans to attend college.

 

Students of the Week #19

Calyn Conner

Calyn is a senior at South High School. She is the wrestling team manager, a member of HOSA and a member of NHS. She enjoys her medical classes at school and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Gates. Outside of school, Calyn works as a CNA and helps provide childcare at her church. After graduation, Calyn plans to attend Washburn University to become a Physical Therapy Assistant.

Karsyn Bird

Karsyn is a 7th grader at South Middle School. Karsyn is a cheerleader, a member of the choir and dances with Revolution School of Dance. Karsyn loves her choir class with Mr. Dees and english class with Mrs. Munk. She enjoys spending time with her family when she’s not dancing. After high school, Karsyn plans to attend college and become a professional dancer. 

Anna Kraft

Anna is a sophomore at Central High School. She is a member of the choir program and serves as the advocacy chair for the thespian troupe. Anna is also active with Theater Salina. She is grateful for the opportunities and the support Mr. Holmquist and Mrs. Hilt provide. After high school, Anna would like to attend college but is unsure of what she will major in. She does know that she will continue to pursue her interests in choir and theater. 

Jaana Loisranoi

Jaana is a 6th grader at Lakewood Middle School. Jaana is a member of the school’s band program and plays the baritone saxophone. She enjoys the staff at Lakewood who notice hard work and appreciate self expression. Jaana is also a member of the xCel honor choir and volunteers with the food bank. After high school, Jaana would like to attend college and earn a degree in education and cosmetology. 


Students of the Week #18

Mason Gardner

Mason is a senior at South High School. He is a band section leader, a culinary intern, and a member of the yearbook staff. He also swims and plays tennis. He enjoys his culinary classes and being able to play sports. Outside of school, Mason enjoys gaming and hanging out with his friends. After graduation, he plans to attend WSU Tech to study the culinary arts.

Colten Lehmann

Colton is an 8th grader at South Middle School. Colton enjoys participating in school activities like the PBIS celebrations, pep assemblies, and community integration trips. His favorite teacher at school is Mrs. Barber. Colten enjoys hanging out with friends, attending his siblings’ sporting events, and spending time with family. Colten is still deciding what he’d like to do after high school. 

John Rose

John is a junior at Central High School. He is the first chair cello player in the school’s orchestra as well as a member of the Scholar’s Bowl team and Chess Club. John also plays in the Salina Youth Symphony. His favorite thing about school are his advanced and AP classes because he is able to learn a lot in those classes. After high school, John would like to study paleontology in college

Chloe Bohrer

Chloe is an 8th grader at Lakewood Middle School. At school, Chloe enjoys playing volleyball, participating in the Math Relays, and being a member of the Track team. Chloe is also a member of the Civics club. Her favorite subject is math and her favorite teachers are Mr. Billinger, Mr. Hunter, and Mr. Cuadra. After high school, Chloe would like to become a math teacher and attend K-State. 

 

Students of the Week #17

Destiny Hamilton

Destiny is a senior at South High School. She is the Drama Club secretary/historian, a manager in Band, and a member of NHS and Book Club. She enjoys attending school to see her friends, play in the band, and help with theater productions. Outside of school, she plays in the Bethany College Symphonic Band.  After graduation, she plans to attend K-State to study Architecture, with a minor in Business.

Kendall Tauber

Kendall is a 6th grader at South Middle School. Kendall is a member of the student council and enjoys gymnastics, volleyball, and golf. Her favorite subject is math and she loves all of her teachers. She enjoys drawing and painting in her spare time. Kendall would like to attend college and become a chiropractor. 

Azbey Peckham

Azbey is a senior at Central High School. She is captain of the basketball team and is involved in several school activities including the school newspaper, Scholar’s Bowl, NHS, student council, and Link Crew. Her favorite class is Mrs. Paradis’ creative writing class. Azbey enjoys reading and volunteering with Relay for Life. After graduation, Azbey will be attending KU.

Cora Dill

Cora is a 6th grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the school orchestra as well as the Salina Youth Symphony. She also does dance, is a member of a swim team, and enjoys running. Her favorite class at school is social studies. A fun fact about Cora is that she was born in Texas. After high school, Cora would like to attend K-State.


Students of the Week #16

Tyson Bounyareth

Tyson is a senior at South High School. He is the manager for the swim team and a PawMart intern. His favorite subjects are math and history. Outside of school, he interns with Kaw Valley Engineering, and he enjoys working out and playing video games. He has two dogs, Bingo and Tank.  After graduation, he plans to attend K-State to study Mechanical Engineering. 

Shaan Galvez

Shaan is an 8th grader at South Middle School. Shaan is a member of the volleyball team and enjoys her social studies classes. One of her favorite teachers at SMS is Mrs. Urban who teaches Career and Life. Outside of school, Shaan enjoys cooking, playing the cello, and spending time with her pets, a dog and a guinea pig. After high school, Shann would like to attend KU and become a nurse. 


Abdiel Ramos

Abdiel is a freshman at Central High School. He does track and is a member of the Xcel program. His favorite teachers are Mrs. Byarlay, Mrs. Holgerson, Coach Vaughn and Coach Sandbo. Teachers like them make school a memorable experience. Outside of school, he attends church and also spends time volunteering at the food bank. Abdiel is still thinking about what he would like to do after high school.

Dylan Atteberry

Dylan is a 7th grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the Robotics team and Scholar’s Bowl. She enjoys learning new things and writing at school. She also loves making art and hanging out with her little sister. Dylan is still exploring potential career fields to pursue after high school. 


 

Students of the Week #15

Lola McBride

Lola is a senior at South High School. She is a varsity cheerleader and a member of HOSA, FCA, and NHS. Her favorite class is AP Chem because she loves chemistry. Outside of school, she is a Relay for Life event lead and captain, and is active with her church. She spends a lot of time at the gym and has two younger brothers. After graduation, she plans to attend K-State to study Biochemistry with a focus on Pre-Med.

Harlee Falk

Harlee is a 5th grader at South Middle School. Harlee is a member of the school’s Belonging committee. She enjoys her art and guitar classes. She also likes her math class with Mrs. Arnold, who is always there to help. Outside of school, she helps out with her church’s nursery and enjoys drawing for friends and family. After high school, Harlee would like to become a traveling doctor/vet with her friends.  

Thomas Payne

Thomas is a sophomore at Central High School. He is a member of the basketball, golf and cross country teams. His favorite classes are conditioning and history. His favorite teachers are Mrs. Kira, Mrs. Hoff and Ms. Stanton. Outside of school, Thomas is active with his church. After high school, Thomas would like to attend K-State. 

Isabelle Wilson

Isabelle is a 7th grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the student council and basketball team. Isabelle loves seeing her friends at school. Her favorite class is reading and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Toms.  Outside of school, she enjoys volunteering, traveling, painting, and  hanging out with her two Frenchies. After high school, Isabelle plans to attend college and get a degree.

Quevon Purucker

Quevon is a senior at South High School. He is a member of the Basketball team. His favorite school subject is history. After graduation, Quevon plans to attend college and continue his basketball career.

Kyndall Kinderknecht

Kyndall is a 6th grader at South Middle School. Kyndall plays both softball and volleyball. She enjoys baking, sports and reading in her free time. At school, Kyndall says that SMS teachers treat their students with kindness and respect. Her favorite subject may be P.E. but her favorite teachers would be all of them. After high school, Kyndall would like to attend college to play sports and start a bakery.

Madelyn Craft

Madelyn is a junior at Central High School. Madelyn is a Link Leader and a member of the drumline. She also plays in the Salina Youth Symphony and a band called Downtown Funk. Madelyn loves the caring teachers at CHS and especially her ELO teacher, who makes the classroom feel like a family. After high school, Madelyn plans to attend college for exercise science. 

Georgia Thomas

Georgia is a 6th grader at Lakewood Middle School. Georgia loves hanging out with her friends and playing sports. She plays volleyball, WCS basketball and track with Salina Burn. Her favorite classes are Art and English with Mr. Smucker and Mrs. Chitty. After high school, Georgia plans to attend college and become a lawyer. 

 

Students of the Week #13

Raven Caesar

Raven is a senior at South High School. She is a member of the Girl’s Basketball team, HOSA - Future Health Professionals, and choir. Outside of school, she is active with her church and youth group. After graduation, she would like to attend a nursing program. 

Jasmyn Jones

Jasmyn is a 7th grader at South Middle School. Jasmyn is a member of the yearbook club, band, cheerleading and basketball team. She also does gymnastics and is active with her youth group. Her favorite teachers are Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Armbrust. A fun fact about Jasmyn is that her dog is named Lucky. After high school, Jasmyn would like to attend college and become a teacher. 

Jenna Sperling

Jenna is a senior at Central High School. Jenna is a member of several activities including golf, band, twirling, Link Crew, HOSA, STUCO, NHS, and Book Club. She is also a manager at the CHS Perk Coffee Shop and volunteers in the community. Jenna’s favorite teacher is Mrs. Gilbert. After graduation, Jenna plans to attend a 4 year college where she can continue to be a baton twirler and major in nursing. 

Irene Grugnale

Irene is a 6th grader at Lakewood Middle School. She loves her science classes and enjoys participating in the Big Brother Big Sisters program. A fun fact about Irene is that she has two polydactyl cats, which means they have two thumbs. After high school, Irene would like to become a teacher. 

 

Students of the Week #12

Paul Hawksworth

Paul is a senior at South High School. He is a member of the Bowling and Golf teams as well as the Orchestra and National Honor Society. He enjoys participating in sports where he can build meaningful relationships with teammates and coaches. Outside of school, he is a member of the Salina Youth Symphony and a fan of the Chicago Cubs and classic rock music. After graduation, he plans to pursue a degree in economics and/or statistics.  

Jack Weber

Jack is an 8th grader at South Middle School. Jack is a member of Scholar’s Bowl, Math Relays, and the Cross Country and Track teams. His favorite thing about school is being able to participate in Scholar’s Bowl and answer trivia questions with his friends. In his free time, Jack is a Boy Scout, enjoys watching movies, and playing pokemon. After high school, Jack would like to get a degree in marine biology. 

Joseph Cherry

Joseph is a freshman at Central High School. Joseph plays football and basketball at CHS. His business class is his favorite as he plans to someday start a business of his own. He plans to join the Big Brothers Big Sisters program and is interested in cars and music. Joseph would like to attend college after high school and join the NBA or become an entrepreneur.

Journi Leones

Journi is a 7th grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the Yearbook club and is active with her church’s youth group. Her favorite class is orchestra with Mrs. Modin where she plays the violin. After high school, Journi would like to attend college and get a degree in marine biology. 

 

Students of the Week #11

Soren Mannebach

Soren is a senior at South High School. He is a drama club officer and a member of the student advisory committee. He enjoys all of the different activities at SHS and appreciates all of the supportive teachers and staff. Outside of school, he participates in theater programs and Willing Workers 4-H Club. In his free time, he enjoys playing tabletop games. After graduation, he plans to attend Salina Tech’s Welding program. 

Corbin Ebert

Corbin is an 8th grader at South Middle School. Corbin is a member of Scholar’s Bowl, Cross Country, Tennis, Yearbook Club and is vice president of Student Council. He is also active with his church, volunteers at the library, and plays soccer. His favorite thing about school is how the teachers are nice and how fun math is. A fun fact about Corbin is that he enjoys hiking. After high school, Corbin would like to attend college.

Kyla Venters

Kyla is a sophomore at Central High School. Kyla is a member of the Vets dance team. She enjoys being able to see her friends and teachers every day at school. Kyla enjoys hanging out with her friends and doing hair and makeup. After high school, she would like to attend a beauty school to pursue esthetics. 

Ava Gunderson

Ava is a 7th grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the Lakewood Robotics Team and plans to begin volunteering at the zoo this summer. She enjoys seeing her friends at school and all of the fun teachers. A fun fact about Ava is that she enjoys music and reading. After high school, Ava would like to attend college to study astronomy, zoology and education.

 

Students of the Week #10

Seth Flores

Seth is a senior at South High School. He is a member of the Boy’s soccer team and enjoys helping out with youth soccer camps in his spare time. A fun fact about Seth is that he is a middle child with one older sister and one younger brother. At school, his P.E. classes are fun and provide a change of pace from the rest of his classes. After graduation, Seth would like to continue his soccer career. 

Martha Silvestre

Martha is a 6th grader at South Middle School. Martha enjoys helping out around the classroom and says that when she needs help, her teachers are there for her. She participates in danza which is a Mexican dance style. She is looking forward to trying out for volleyball and cheerleading next year. After high school, Martha would like to attend college and become an immigration social worker. 

Dave Joseph Cooper

Dave Joseph Cooper or DJ is a junior at Central High School. Dj plays the violin and his favorite subject is math. This is his first year at CHS and has loved getting to know everyone. He is an active member with his church and enjoys spending time with his five siblings. After high school, DJ plans to go into the Air Force and become a pediatrician. 

Hailey Wilson

Hailey is an 8th grader at Lakewood Middle School. Hailey is a member of the choir and student council. Her favorite subjects are science and choir. Her favorite teachers are Ms. Francisco and Ms. Fenn. Outside of school, Hailey is active with her church and dances with Theatre Salina. After high school, Hailey would like to attend KU to major in Film and Media Studies so she can become a film producer. 

 

Students of the Week #9

 

Jozlyn Jones

Jozlyn is a senior at South High School. She is a member of track & field, band, and the Black Student Union. Jozlyn enjoys being a part of the academic atmosphere at SHS. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, music, and does job shadowing at a local veterinary hospital. She would like to work with orcas someday, as they are her favorites. After graduation, she plans to attend a community college and work towards becoming a marine biologist. 

 

Kennedy Sutton

Kennedy is a 7th grader at South Middle School. Kennedy is on the honor roll and is a member of the school orchestra. She currently plays the cello but has played the violin in the past. Her favorite teacher at school is Mr. Quinn because she is respectful, understanding, and kind toward all students. After high school, Kennedy would like to attend college and become a veterinarian. 

 

Ean Inks

Ean is a senior at Central High School. Ean enjoys his trigonometry and precalculus class and says that Mr. Newell is an amazing teacher. Ean isn’t sure of which university he will be attending but after graduation, he will be majoring in architectural engineering. 

 

Maya Brown-Mereles

Maya is a 6th grader at Lakewood Middle School. Maya enjoys dance, band, and being a part of Theatre Salina. She also likes hanging out with friends and her dog, Millie. Her favorite teachers are Ms. Johnson, Ms. Toms, and Mr. Boggs because they are all very nice and funny. After high school, Maya would like to be a vet and attend K-State.

Alexa Cruz Rivera

Alexa is a senior at South High School. She is an ESL tutor, Math Center tutor, and a member of the NHS. She loves her math classes but her favorite subject currently is psychology. Outside of school, she continues to tutor other students and is active with her church in many ways. Alexa is still deciding which college to attend after she graduates. 

 

Edith Fierro Cortes

Edith is an 8th grader at South Middle School. Edith plays basketball and does track. She is also a member of the Sensations choir and school orchestra. She enjoys learning something new every day at school and especially enjoys math. Outside of school, Edith is active with her church and making arts and crafts. After high school, Edith would like to become a surgeon and attend KU Med. 

 

Lexi Foos

Lexi is a freshman at Central High School. Lexi is involved in many school activities including tennis, STUCO, theater, and is the president of the Treble Chorus Choir. Lexi is also involved in the Salina Youth Choir and her church. Lexi’s favorite classes are choir with Mr. Holmquist and theater with Mrs. Hilt. After high school, Lexi would like to become a music teacher. 

 

Amberly Quezada

Amberly is a 7th grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the Yearbook Club and school choir. Her favorite class is science, it can be a lot to learn and work on but the experiments are really cool. Ambely enjoys painting, playing the guitar and hanging out with her 2 dogs. Amberly is still deciding what she would like to do after high school.

Sofia Burns

Sofia is a junior at South High School. She plays Tennis, does Track & Field, and is a member of HOSA. Her favorite class is American Studies because she finds it very interesting. Outside of school, she volunteers at the Rolling Hills Zoo. After high school, Sofia plans to attend college in pursuit of going to medical school.

 

Emily Briseno-Ceja

Emily is a 7th grader at South Middle School. Emily is a member of cheer and band. She also is a member of the Shannon’s Star’s Twirling Club. Her favorite classes are FACS and math. Her favorite teachers are Mrs. Moon, Mrs. Adams, and Mrs. Arnold. She loves being a baton twirler and being a cheerleader but is excited to try wrestling this fall. After high school, she would like to become a kindergarten teacher. 

 

Aaron Waite

Aaron is a sophomore at Central High School. Aaron is involved in several activities at school including e-sports, chess club, game club,  and Scholar’s Bowl. His favorite class is Algebra 2/Trigonometry with Mr. Newell who makes the class fun. After high school, Aaron plans to attend college but is still deciding what field to study. 

 

William Howe

William is an 8th grader at Lakewood Middle School. He is a member of the Stang Gang, a select choir group at LMS. He is involved in community theatre groups and dances with the Tamara Howe School of Dance. He enjoys expressing himself through song and dance. He enjoys learning and discovering new things every day in his science class. After high school, William would like to work in musical theater.

Danison Lagroon

Danison is a senior at South High School. She is the captain of the Peppers dance team and a member of National Honor Society. Danison enjoys her CNA class and has an internship with the Salina Regional Health Center. Outside of school, she is a member of the Revolution School of Dance. After graduation, she plans to attend Bellus Academy to pursue Esthetics.

 

Rashi Patel

Rashi is a 7th grader at South Middle School. Rashi enjoys playing tennis and being part of the Yearbook Club. She also enjoys gymnastics at the YMCA. Her favorite thing about SMS is the teachers and her favorite subject is Math. She also enjoys FACS with Mrs. Carraway. Rashi plans to attend a good college after high school to become a dentist, engineer, pharmacist or doctor.

Valerie is a junior at Central High School. Valerie is involved in several activities and sports. She also volunteers at the zoo and participates in G2 Heat Softball. Valerie enjoys the variety of activities and classes available at CHS. After high school, Valerie plans to play softball in college while earning a pre-veterinary medicine degree.

LynLee is a 6th grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the school band and drama programs. Her favorite teachers are Mrs. Chitty and Ms. Humiston. She loves all of the new experiences and things she is learning at LMS. A fun fact about Lynlee is that she has a black cat named Binx and three dogs. After high school, Lynlee would like to attend college.

South High School’s Student of the Week is Ava Lemaster, a senior. At South High, she is a member of Cougar Cross Country and Track & Field, National Honor Society, and Student Advisory Committee. She enjoys getting to know all of the faculty and staff at SHS while outside of school, her friends and family are most important to her. After graduation, she plans to attend a college with a physical therapy assistant program and would be interested in continuing to run track & field as well.

Central High School’s Student of the Week is LaJoy Outland, senior. LaJoy cheers her friends on at CHS sporting events and is a true supporter at school activities. She is happy to be in her final year of high school, though she has enjoyed her time at CHS – especially math! Her future plans begin with joining the Army and working in the medical field with a long-term plan to become a veterinarian. LaJoy especially thanks her Aunt for all her support and encouragement.

Lakewood Middle School’s Student of the Week is Mekayla Ashiedu, Grade 7. Makeyla plays violin in the Orchestra, play the piano at Joyful Sounds Studio and participates in the Xcel Program at The City. Her favorite activity is Orchestra because it is fun and provides a different experience than in her other classes. After high school, Mekayla would like to study business and architecture and hopes to eventually start her own business.

South Middle School’s Student of the Week is Jaevon Floyd, Grade 6. Jaevon plays football for the SMS Cougars 6th Grade Team. His favorite class is social studies because he enjoys learning about different civilizations and parts of the world. Looking ahead, Jaevon would like to attend Kansas State University and earn a degree in business. He enjoys playing video games and spending time with his friends.

Isabel Fulkerson

Isabel is a senior at South High School. She is involved in several activities including swimming, golf, band, New Dawn Choir, NHS, and Drama Club. She is also a Kansas Thespian member. Outside of school, Isabel swims with the Salina Aquatics Club, lifeguards and volunteers at the Salina Public Library. Her favorite class right now is social studies because of the interesting topics and discussions. After graduation, Isabel plans to attend either KU or KSU for a dual major in Economics and International Affairs, in order to someday work as a foreign service officer or for the U.S. Department of State. 

 

Lyla Kimmi

Lyla is an 8th grader at South Middle School. Lyla is a member of the basketball team and the school orchestra. She says the orchestra is her favorite part of school because she loves to play the violin and everyone is friendly. After high school, Lyla would like to attend KWU and become a physical therapist. 

 

Eliana Williams

Eliana is a freshman at Central High School. She is a member of the CHS Vets Squad and is a part of the Xcel program. Her favorite class is Advanced English with Mr. Cullins and she’s looking forward to an upcoming field trip. Eliana also enjoys throwing shot put in track. After high school, Eliana would like to be a part of the KU dance team.

Carlie is an 8th grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the volleyball team and the school orchestra. She also participates in the Shockwave Softball program. Carlie’s favorite class is technical education because she likes building things. After high school, Carlie would like to become a doctor and go to medical school.

Hanna Householter

Hanna is a senior at South High School. She is involved in many school sports and activities including volleyball, soccer, Student Council and Kilt Krew. Her favorite class is conditioning with Mr. Barkley. Outside of school, she enjoys going to the gym and hanging out with friends. After graduation, she plans to attend KSU. 

 

Elijah Buckland

Elijah is a 6th grader at South Middle School. He enjoys playing soccer and working on his leadership skills in P.E. Elijah enjoys the community at SMS because the staff and students are funny and helpful. A fun fact about Elijah is that he has four pets. After high school, Elijah would like to attend college and become a programmer. 

 

Madison Berndt

Madison is a sophomore at Central High School. She is a member of the Free Spirit Choir and Mustang Media and is one of the softball managers. Madison is also a member of the school's theater troupe and is active with Theatre Salina as well. One of her favorite things about school is getting to see all of her friends and teachers. After high school, Madison would like to pursue a career in producing movies, television shows or theater. 

 

Terric Hardesty

Terric is a 6th grader at Lakewood Middle School. He is a member of the Comic Book Club and enjoys playing all of the fun games in P.E. A fun fact about Terris is that he has two sisters and that he volunteers in the community by picking up trash in parks. After high school, Terrific would like to become a firefighter or a YouTuber.

Carson Crow

Carson is a senior at South High School. Carson is captain of the soccer team, a member of the swimming and diving team, a tennis player and a member of National Honor Society. He enjoys his classes and being able to hang out with friends. Outside of school, Carson volunteers at local soccer events, plays the guitar and goes on morning runs. After graduation, he plans to study aerospace engineering and hopes to continue his soccer career.  

 

Alivia Durall

Alivia is a 7th grader at South Middle School. She is a member of the yearbook club and plays on her school’s intramural teams. She is also a member of the Salina Youth Choir. Alivia loves art and all types of music. She enjoys singing, reading and drawing in her free time. After high school, Alivia would like to attend college but isn’t sure of what she will study just yet. 

 

Isaac Hamilton

Isaac is an 11th grader at Central High School. Isaac is a member of both the gaming club and the chess club. He enjoys learning new things, problem solving and having classes with his friends. His favorite subject is math with Mr. Hall. A fun fact about Isaac is that he enjoys hiking, running and biking. After high school, Isaac would like to become an astronaut but will start with a career in electrical engineering.

Jaida is a 7th grader at Lakewood Middle School. Jaida loves being on the volleyball team at LMS and enjoys her teammates and coaches. She also does track and field. In her free time, she bakes and helps out at her church. After high school, Jaida would like to open a bakery.

Carson is a senior at South High School. Carson is the captain of the football team. He enjoys having teachers that seriously care about their students, and he has found that they all only want the best from him. Outside of school, Carson is active with his church group, enjoys lifting weights and has a dog named Skye. After graduation, he plans to attend Kansas State University to study Engineering.  

 

Natalie Simpson

Natalie is an 8th grader at South Middle School. Her favorite activity at school is orchestra, where she plays the violin and enjoys learning new music. Natalie enjoys crocheting in her spare time. After high school, Natalie plans to earn a business degree and own a bookstore. 

 

Carlos Aguilar

Carlos is a senior at Central High School. Carlos is a band section leader, wrestler and soccer player. He enjoys his teachers at Central as well as the wrestling team. A fun fact about Carlos is that he plays the piano. After graduation, Carlos plans to study to become a doctor. 

 

Madisyn Sandbo

Madisyn is an 8th grader at Lakewood Middle School. She enjoys playing sports which include volleyball, basketball and track and field. In her spare time, she plays Elite Club Volleyball, attends church, spends time with family and shops with her friends. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Haynes and her favorite class is English. After high school, Madisyn would like to attend KU Med to become a doctor or surgeon.
