PBL 101 (Project Based Learning)
PBL 101 provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to implement a rigorous, standards-based project. Facilitated by an expert National Faculty from the Buck Institute, PBL 101 is a balanced blend of direct instruction, video analysis, hands-on work, resource sharing, and peer collaboration and feedback. The course models the Project Based Learning process, and models how teachers might facilitate PBL in their own classroom. This training is available to all teachers, lead teachers, and instructional coaches.

USD 305 is offering a stipend for participation in PBL 101!
Option 1 - $500 stipend
Option 2 - $350 stipend and 2 graduate credit hours from MidAmerica Nazarene University ($150 paid by district to cover the full expense of the 2 graduate credits.)

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
Are you interested in becoming ESOL endorsed? USD 305 is offering a 4 day training this summer that will help prepare you to pass the ESOL Praxis test that is required for endorsement.
Session 1: May 23-26, 2022
Session 2: July 11-14, 2022
USD 305 will provide these amazing incentives for completing the ESOL endorsement training:
The district will pay teachers $20 per hour (24 hour total) to attend the 4 days of training. Teachers will be paid only after the endorsement has been added to the license.
The district will reimburse teachers the $63.00 cost of having the endorsement added to their license. Teachers must pay the endorsement fee upfront and will not be eligible for reimbursement until after the endorsement has been added to the license.
The district will reimburse teachers the $130.00 Praxis assessment cost. Teachers must pay the registration fee upfront and will not be eligible for reimbursement until after the endorsement has been added to the license.
OPTIONAL: This training will be offered for 2 hours of graduate credit from MidAmerica Nazarene University. Teachers are asked to pay for these credit hours upfront and will be reimbursed only after the endorsement has been added to the license.

Mental Health First Aide (MHFA)
USD 305 has partnered with Central Kansas Mental Health Center to aid with youth mental health, staff wellness, and suicide prevention. MHFA teaches participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. Self-care and overall wellness are emphasized. All certified teachers and all certified support staff are encouraged to enroll!
One graduate credit hour is available through MidAmerica Nazarene University for $75 and/or 12 CEUs are available for support staff recertification.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
USD 305 has partnered with Central Kansas Mental Health Center to aid with mental health and suicide prevention. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. All certified teachers and all certified support staff are encouraged to enroll!
One graduate credit hour is available through MidAmerica Nazarene University for $75 and/or 14 CEUs are available for support staff recertification.

TEEL 870 Workshop in Education: Applied Leadership
Fort Hays State University is offering an online summer
course on applied leadership for teachers and administrators who are interested
in a practical approach to improving their applied leadership skills. This
course will be interactive and a great a way to network with other professional
educators across the country! Participants will earn three hours
of graduate credit ($298.55/hour in and out-of-state).

Uncovering the Logic of English Book Study/Discussion
In the book study on Uncovering the Logic of English: A Common-Sense Approach to Reading, Spelling, and Literacy by Denise Eide, participants will read, discuss, and reflect on the book as it relates to the instruction of literacy foundation standards and skills. Participants will receive a copy of the book well in advance in order to read before coming together on TWO summer dates to discuss how the knowledge gained applies to classroom instruction.

Math Fact Fluency Book Study Workshop
USD 305 is offering an opportunity for elementary teachers and instructional coaches to attend a Summer Book Study Workshop on math fact fluency. While efforts to achieve fluency in basic facts have been attempted in many ways through the years, students still struggle knowing their facts from memory. In this book study on Math Fact Fluency by Jennifer Bay-Williams and Gina Kling, you will be provided research based solutions to teaching basic math facts so they stick. The book offers everything a teacher needs to teach, assess, and communicate with parents about math fact instruction.
Participants will receive a copy of the book Math Fact Fluency and will attend a one-day workshop on July 25, 2022 to discuss and reflect on the book as it relates to our math fluency standards and the impact on student learning. This book will be given to participants well in advance so they can come to the workshop prepared to take a deep dive and put the strategies into practice by collaboratively creating activities and lessons that can be used by all USD 305 elementary teachers during the 2022-2023 school year.

● Participants will be paid $20/hour (6 hours total) to attend the one-day workshop
● Participants will receive a copy of Math Fact Fluency by Jennifer Bay-Williams and Gina Kling
● Participants will have a hand in designing activities and lessons that all elementary teachers will have access to use
Optional: One graduate credit hour is available through MidAmerica Nazarene University for $75 (to be paid for by the participant and attendance to the workshop is required)
