During November 2019, members of NEA-Salina selected Vickie Marcozzi as the USD 305 NEA-Salina Master Teacher and the district’s nominee for Emporia State University’s Master Teacher Awards program. While a formal presentation to the Board of Education will occur in February 2020, congratulations go to Vickie for this special recognition.
Vickie currently teaches art at Oakdale Elementary School but has a rich history of 29 years of service to education and the students she loves. Her passion for her work has been apparent in every role she has accepted. “My job as an educator is to teach every child as if they were my very own, and while doing so, challenge them to go beyond what they thought was possible.”
At Oakdale she has taught reading and writing enrichment in addition to art. This is her sixth year as FLASH Program (Oakdale after-school program) Director where she connects the talents of Lakewood Middle School and Central High School students with volunteer needs. Vickie is president of the Oakdale Parent Teacher Organization and helped Oakdale Elementary partner with Whispering Cottonwood Educational Center to bring a community garden to life.
Congratulations Vickie!
