A Brain Smart Start for Kindergartners

A Brain Smart Start for Kindergartners

Karly Colton’s kindergarten students at Heusner start their day “Brain Smart.” The activity connects students and their teacher together, helps them disengage from stress while steering them toward what they will do that day.
“I like that it brings us together as a classroom family,” explained Karly. “It helps them know that they are loved and respected and we need each of them to make our class complete!” During Brain Smart, students practice “breathing in calm” and resetting their bodies for a day of learning. Karly wants her students to feel important and loved, knowing it will help support their academic success.

Nicely done! Another terrific example of teaching skills that support learning now and success in our students’ future.
