Congratulations to Tina Layton, Meadowlark Ridge Elementary Grade 4 teacher, and Melanie Hammond, South High School science teacher, our USD 305 2023 Teachers of the Year! They exemplify excellent teaching and will move forward in the 2023 Kansas Teacher of the Year Program as representatives of USD 305.
Each year two teachers are nominated for the Kansas Teacher of the Year program. The awards are sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education and affiliated with the National Teacher of the Year program. For 2023, nominations were sought in the fall and a district nominee was submitted to the state in late March. Regional finalists will be named at a luncheon in their honor in March 2022. State finalists and the Kansas Teacher of the Year will be announced in September 2022.
