    Approve Bid

    The board of education approved the bid of T & R Construction in the amount of $78,274 for a parking lot expansion on the south parking lot at Heartland.

     

    Assessment System

    Trish Bandré, instructional specialist, gave an update on the Reading Diagnostic Assessment (RDA) and Benchmark Assessment System (BAS) that is given to students beginning in kindergarten that measures accuracy, comprehension and reading fluency.

     

    Special Education Restructure in USD 305

    Mike Lowers, executive director of Central Kansas Cooperative in Education, presented a revised plan restructuring three self-contained special education programs: the Adaptive Learning Center, the Autism Classroom and Opportunity Now.  

     

    Salina West Campus

    Mike Lowers, executive director of Central Kansas Cooperative in Education, presented a proposed transition plan for moving the Opportunity Now program to the Salina West Campus.

     

    School Board Reports

  • Gary Denning, board member, attended the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting, the Teddy Bear Tour at Heartland Early Education and a Central Kansas Cooperative in Education Fall Administrator training.

Superintendent's Report

Linn Exline, superintendent of schools, attended the Council of Superintendents’ meeting and reported to the Board that the Kansas Board of Regents has changed college entrance requirements and that the Kansas Assessments are being reworked. Superintendent Exline hosted a tour of career and technical education health/medical classes for a Salina manager and attended the South versus Central high school football game.
