CHS Senior Demonstrates Welding Precision and Craftmanship

Collin Patton, senior at Central High School and a student in one of Cole Dow's welding classes, demonstrated exceptional skill and innovation by fabricating two custom retention flanges for an expansion tank on a domestic hot water boiler. The project, requested by the SPS maintenance department, required a part that is typically difficult to source.

The flanges were not only created from scratch but also surpassed the quality of commercially available alternatives. Collin’s accomplishment is a great example of the value of career and technical education. It  showcases how students in SPS are applying their skills to solve real-world problems.

In the first image, two newly crafted flanges are shown alongside the original green part, while the second image captures a flange installed and fully operational. Great job Collin!
