Student Shines with Community Focused Message on Food Insecurity
Congratulations to Lakewood Middle School student Zane Hoff for placing third at the Kansas State Finals of the National Civics Bee!
The Kansas State Civics Bee Finals is a statewide competition that brings together middle school students from across Kansas and challenges them to explore real world issues and present thoughtful, civic minded community solutions. Zane was one of 15 students who advanced to the state finals* held at the Kansas Leadership Center in Wichita Kansas in June, after qualifying through local competitions.
The competition included a live round of civics based questions and student presentations. Each finalist delivered a three minute presentation on an essay they submitted, sharing an idea for improving their community and demonstrating their enthusiasm for civics. Students then responded in real time to questions from a panel of judges.
Zane’s presentation on food insecurity earned him third place and a $250 prize.
We are proud of Zane’s passion for civic learning and his leadership in sparking meaningful conversations and promoting civic knowledge across the state. Way to go!
