Shining a Light on Sustainability

Salina Public Schools (SPS) has been recognized by Evergy for lighting efficiency excellence, celebrating the district’s continued progress in reducing energy use and improving lighting across schools and district facilities.

With support through the Evergy Business Energy Savings Program, SPS has completed several energy saving projects across the district. Projects range from large scale lighting upgrades in schools to smaller improvements in support buildings, all timed to reduce disruption and maximize impact.

Collectively, these projects are helping SPS reduce energy consumption, lower operating costs across district facilities, reduce maintenance needs and enhance lighting for students, teachers and staff. And the results are measurable, with SPS reducing electricity use by more than 543,873 kilowatt hours annually, the equivalent of powering over 50 homes.

These outcomes reflect SPS’s long term commitment to sustainability and responsible stewardship of resources, creating savings today and lasting benefits for the future.
