Reorganization of the Board for the 2023-2024 School Year

Election of the Board President

The board elected Jim Fletcher to serve as president for the 2023-2024 School Year.

 

Election of the Board Vice President

The board elected Gabe Grant to serve as vice president for the 2023-2024 School Year.

2023-2024 Salary and Work Conditions for Certified Staff

The board approved changes to the salary and work conditions for certified staff including the addition of $1500 to the base of the certified salary schedule, the addition of 5 days to paid parental leave, single step movement and more pending NEA-Salina ratification of the agreement.

 

2023-2024 Salaries and Benefits for Classified, Professional/Technical and Substitutes

The board approved changes to the salary and work conditions for classified staff, professional/technical staff and substitutes. The changes include a 3.57% increase to the base salary, an increase in the monthly employer-paid health insurance contribution and single step movement as allowed under the salary schedules.

 

2023-2024 Salaries and Benefits for Administrators

The board approved a 3.57% increase to the base salary, an increase in the monthly employer-paid health insurance contribution and single step movement as allowed under the salary schedules.

 

2023-2024 Handbook for Retired Certified Teachers (Retired Educators)

The board approved changes to the Retired Certified Teachers Handbook. 

 

2023-2024 Support Staff Handbook

The board approved changes to the Support Staff Handbook.

  • Bonnie Schamberger, board member, attended the Salina Adult Education Center (SAEC) graduation and the Board of Education (BOE) retreat
  • Gabe Grant, vice president, attended the Central Kansas Cooperative in Education (CKCIE) Board of Control meeting and the BOE retreat.
  • Dana Kossow, board member, attended the CKCIE Board of Control meeting and the BOE retreat.
  • Mark Bandré, board member, attended the Smoky Hill Education Service Center meeting, the BOE retreat and the Oakdale Park tennis courts ribbon cutting.
  • Scott Gardner, board member, attended the SAEC graduation and the BOE retreat.
  • Ann Zimmerman, board member, performed at free summer lunches at Schilling and Sunset and attended the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting, the SAEC graduation and the BOE retreat.

Superintendent’s Report

Linn Exline, superintendent of schools, reported that the district is gearing up for students to return. Online enrollment opened this morning. Walk-in enrollment will take place on July 25 at Central High School in conjunction with the back to school fair including free backpacks, dental screenings, resources and more. New administrator orientations have started and the district’s administrator retreat will be held tomorrow and Thursday. Kansas Association of School Boards’ Leadership for Tomorrow will be held in our district on Friday and will include a tour of our community collaborations. Superintendent Exline reported that she will be at the National Schools Public Relations Association conference along with Jennifer Camien, communications director, to accept the Gold Medallion for the district’s communication and marketing campaign.
